La Villa's fate comes down to Week 10 after defeat

BRUNI --- Eugenio Garza and the Cardinals’ season will come down to next week after their 27-8 loss to the Badgers. To advance to the playoffs, they cannot lose to Benavides by more than 10 points. If they do, then their season will end without a postseason berth.

“They capitalized on our mistakes and we kept shooting ourselves in the foot,” Garza said. “We’re a young ballclub, and all of the starters will be back next year. We’re just having growing pains right now.”

The Cardinals will have to learn how to deal with those pains next week if they hope to make the playoffs.

“They know we’ll be facing tough sledding,” Garza said. “We’ve got to get up for it. We’ve got to change our game.”

La Villa falls to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in District 32-1A while Bruni improves to 7-1 and 4-1.
