McAllen ISD chooses Gonzalez as new AD

McALLEN — In an unanimous decision, McAllen ISD named Paula Gonzalez on Monday at a school board meeting its new athletic director.
Gonzalez has spent the last 4 1/2 years as the AD for Socorro ISD in El Paso. Before that, the Harlingen native spent half a year as an assistant AD in Santa Rosa and was the Brownsville Pace volleyball coach for 27 years.
At Pace, she won 500 matches and won or tied for 10 district championships.
She is the first female to be named the AD for McAllen ISD.
