Lions eyeing trip to playoffs after beating Pirates

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Lions came back for yet another win and they’ve got their sights set on the playoffs after defeating Hidalgo 28-20 on Friday night.

With the win, the Lions (4-5, 3-3) knocked Hidalgo (3-6, 2-4) out of the picture and set up a winner-take-all showdown at Rio Hondo next week.

Against Hidalgo, the Lions got a big night from quarterback Justin Rodriguez, who tossed two touchdown passes to Gilbert Jimenez and another to Brian Vasquez. Vasquez also kicked two field goals and Kike Oviedo forced a safety to help the Lions win their third district game.
