Players honored by TSWA

The Texas Sports Writers Association on Saturday announced its Class 5A all-state team. Included on the list are three Valley players, with McAllen Rowe’s Jonathan Bimpong a second-team receiver and Sharyland’s Jerry Cavazos a second-team defensive back. All-Valley defensive player Mingo Rincon was named a third-team lineman.
On Friday, the TSWA announced its 4A team, with three more Valley players recognized. Mission High defensive back Justin Garcia was named to the second team while Weslaco East offensive lineman Abraham Trejo and Mission linebacker Rudy Lopez were third-team selections.
La Feria kicker Brian Vasquez on Thursday was named to the third team.
