Roma overtakes stubborn Valley View

ROMA - Nestor Garcia’s 62-yard touchdown run with about four minutes remaining gave the Gladiators their first lead and a 14-10 victory over Valley View in a District 32-4A game Friday night at the Gladiator Arena.

Valley View (1-5, 0-3) took a 10-7 lead into halftime but Roma (4-2, 1-2) kept the game close until Garcia’s decisive run.

“Our kids are coming around and working hard and playing good football when we need to,” Roma coach Max Habecker Jr. said. “We didn’t turn the ball over, we played good defense and we played good special teams.

“We know that when we do those things, we have a chance to win every ballgame that we’re in.”
