Rio Hondo stomps out Progreso
PROGRESO - After starting off District 32-3A play 0-1, the Rio Hondo Bobcats have won consecutive games after defeating the Progreso Red Ants 47-27 on Friday night at Red And Stadium.
The Bobcats defeated the Red Ants behind a consistent running attack and stellar play by Isaiah De La Cruz.
“Isaiah’s a great asset to our team,” Bobcats coach Rocky James said after the game. “He does whatever is needed for the team, he starts at quarterback but when we want to develop our freshman quarterback, Juan Puga, he gladly passes the reigns and becomes a threat at receiver.
The Bobcats (2-4, 2-1) started out well on defense, after forcing a three and out, De La Cruz needed just one play to hook up with Shawn O’Brien on a 69 yard go route to put the Bobcats up 7-0 early in the first quarter.
