League City routs Pharr, one win from title

PHARR — League City flexed its muscles Friday, beating Pharr Post 101 12-1 on Friday in the Texas American Legion state baseball tournament. The defending state champions can win another title tonight with a victory over either Pharr or Houston Madison, which eliminated Texarkana with a 9-5 victory Friday morning. Those teams play at 10 a.m. today in an elimination game for the right to face League City.
The winner of the Pharr-Houston Madison game will have to top undefeated League City twice to claim the championship. The second game of the finals, if necessary, would be Sunday.
