By the Numbers: VMS unveils football series

Tuesday, July 8 marked 50 days until the start of the 2008 Rio Grande Valley high school football season.
And to help count down, the Valley Morning Star has come up with a series that takes a look at some of the memorable athletes and moments that make Valley high school football so near and dear to us.
"By the Numbers" takes the days remaining until the start of the season and corresponds it with a significant event or athlete.
This is not a ranking or top 50 list, just a trip down memory lane as the season nears.
The series will continue periodically until Aug. 28.
