St. Joseph drops season finale
The St. Joseph Bloodhounds’ season finale didn’t go as planned.
SJA committed four turnovers and St. Anthony’s took advantage by scoring on two of the mistakes as the Yellowjackets defeated the Bloodhounds 14-0 on Saturday at St. Joseph.
Turnovers weren't the only thing that plagued St. Joseph in its season finale. The ’Hounds also saw yellow flags more often than they would have wanted, including 10 in the first half.
"We had way too many turnovers and too many penalties," St. Joseph coach Christian Putegnatsaid. "We couldn’t get anything started, and a few opportunities we had we lostbecause of fumbles."
St. Anthony punched in its first score during the middle of the second quarter, then put the game away in the fourth.
Putegant can’t wait to get started for next season, and with a slew of returning starters expectations will be higher for SJA.
"We want to rebuild and bring back the tradition," he said. "We played ball when we needed to play, we had some close wins and it was just fun getting the team together and all the support of the community. We want to bring that St. Joseph pride with the support of the fans, alumni and administration. Expectations are going to be high next season, and we’re going to build from seventh grade on up."
The Bloodhounds finished with a 2-7 record
