Palmview earns second win by upsetting Brownsville Porter
LA JOYA — La Joya Palmview came out to play football. It produced 162 yards of total offense and scored on offense, defense and special teams to defeat Brownsville Porter 29-9.
In the first quarter, Lobos running back Carlos Siller scored a touchdown early in the game to set the pace for Palmview. Siller would finish the game with six carries for 10 yards, two receptions for 48 yards and one touchdown.
Defense put their mark on Cowboys quarterback Matt Bullock in the second quarter as Emmanuel Garza intercepted a pass and took it all the way in for a touchdown.
Bullock finished the game 133 yards rushing and 118 yards passing. He would also rush for the Cowboys’ only touchdown.
At the start of the third quarter, a scuffle erupted and six players were disqualified. It didn’t seem to rattle Palmview it scored six points in the third putting the final stamp in the game.
Garza would have his second pick in the third quarter and defensive lineman Alex Garza would block a punt and recover for a touchdown.
The Cowboys would finish the game with 323 yards of total offense but it was still not enough to defeat the Lobos.
